Technical/Viewing Issues:
- How is NACME.org best viewed?
We designed the site for
Microsoft® Internet
Explorer® 5.5 (or greater), with consideration for
Netscape® Navigator® 6.0
(or greater) users.
On the Web, you want as large a resolution as you can comfortably use. The greater the
resolution, the more you can fit on the screen. Web pages are almost always too large to
fit on one screen. We recommend using a resolution of 800 X 600 (ideally 1024 x 768),
with at least 256 colors (ideally with 64k or thousands of colors).
Screen resolution and colors are controlled by your operating system and by the type of
monitor you have.
Why can't I view the entire web page?
Most web sites are now being designed for a screen resolution setting of 800 X 600.
If you have to scroll to the right to view the entire page, then your screen resolution
is probably set lower than this: see the next question to fix it.
How do I change my screen resolution?
If you are running Microsoft® Windows95®, Windows98®, Windows 2000® or
Windows NT® you can easily change your screen resolution by clicking on the Start
icon and selecting Control Panel from the menu that appears. From the window that appears
select Display. Now, select the Settings tab. Within that window you will see
a setting called Display Area. Adjust your screen resolution to 800 x 600 or greater
and increase your colors to 256 colors or greater.
If you are on a Macintosh, use the Apple® Powerstrip bar to adjust the resolution with
a single click on that menu. Or, from the Apple menu select Control Panels and then
Displays to change your screen resolution.
Why aren't links on NACME.org underlined?
The design of our site includes non-underlined links. There is nothing wrong with your
Internet browser and this feature won't affect your viewing of other sites. When you hold,
or hover, your mouse over a link, you'll notice the underlining appear and the link will
change color (most browsers). Your computer's settings may affect the way our pages appear.

Site Navigation/Features:
- How can I find a particular page on your site?
In addition to the categorical menu bars at the top of each page, NACME.org features
two additional methods for navigating our site:
- Use the "Search Alphabetical Index" drop-down menu
(located on the top right-hand
side of each page) to locate the topic that interests you. When you select an item,
that page will automatically load.
Click here to tell us about a topic you think
we should add to this menu.
- Use the Site Map page to review a hierarchical
map of our site. Once there, simply click on the page you seek to load it.
Why does a new window open when I click a link?
Most of the links on NACME.org will open in the same browser window. However,
some links, when clicked, open a new window. In general, such links will lead
away from NACME.org, or will open a special type of file (like a .pdf file).
We arranged this as a convenience for you so that if you decide to close the
new window, the last NACME.org page you viewed will still be available.
What is a pdf document and how can I view one?
PDF (Portable Document Format) is the standard for the secure and reliable distribution
and exchange of electronic documents and forms on the Internet PDF is a universal file
format that preserves the fonts, images, graphics, and layout of any source document,
regardless of the application and platform used to create it. Adobe® PDF files are compact
and complete, and can be shared, viewed, and printed by anyone with free Adobe
Reader® software.

Math Is Power Campaign:
- What happened to "Math Is Power"?
Math Is Power as a concept and a passion is still very much alive, though the
advertising campaign has run its course. We have expanded our outreach to young
people through GuideMeNACME
and encourage you to visit that site.
Why do I still see "Math Is Power" advertising?
The campaign was staged in cooperation with The Advertising Council and has ended.
NACME worked with them to produce the ads and arrange for no-cost placement of
television, radio, outdoor and print advertising across the country. Each media
outlet or agency received material with defined expiration dates, which have all
passed, so if a particular media outlet is running Math Is Power advertising, they
shouldn't be. We urge you to either contact the radio or television station or
other media company directly, or
alert the Ad Council if you see such
advertising. Only with specific information can we arrange to remove these
expired ads.
Where can I get a "Math Is Power" poster?
To purchase the Math Is Power "Demand It" poster (the one featuring a fist with
the letters M-A-T-H on the fingers), send a $15 check or money order to:
Math Is Power Poster
NACME
440 Hamilton Ave, Suite 302
White Plains NY 10601-1813

approximately 20" x 24". Discounts are available for purchases of 10 or more posters.
