BLOCK SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS:
NACME provides block grant funding that is matched by our university partners, building a powerful scholarship program and network of resources for Block Scholars. This program goes beyond financial support. In addition to helping to ease the cost of your education, it offers access to technical skills–based training, academic support, and career development opportunities that prepare you to excel in both the classroom and the workplace. The program is designed to help you graduate within five years with a competitive GPA and build a strong foundation for a successful career in STEM.
Block Grant Scholarship recipients are awarded $5000 annually and renewable upon a graduated scale:
- If awarded as a 1st year undergraduate, renewable twice
- If awarded as a 2nd year undergraduate, renewable once
- If awarded as a 3rd year undergraduate, non-renewable
Additionally, all Block Scholars are eligible to apply for the NACME Corporate Scholar Internship Program (CSIP) during their undergraduate career. This program offers an opportunity to:
- Secure a paid full-time summer internship with a NACME Board Company
- Receive a $5,000 scholarship bonus upon successful completion of the internship
- Corporate Scholarship disbursed during your final year (4th year) of college
Additional CSIP features include mentoring, executive shadowing, technical presentations, and briefing opportunities. Scholars graduate from equipped to excel in their chosen fields, with many receiving full-time employment offers from their internship hosts.

Essay Questions
Prepare to answer the following essay questions. Each of the four prompts requires a separate response of at least 100 words (approximately 5–8 sentences).
- Academic Achievement: Reflect on your academic journey to date. Describe your performance, key achievements, and how your academic preparation has positioned you for success in a STEM major.
- Demonstrated Interest in STEM: Share specific examples that demonstrate your interest and engagement in STEM beyond the classroom. This may include sharing about personal projects/hobbies, research, competitions, or digital portfolios, etc.
- Leadership, Community Service, and Extracurricular Activities: Describe the ways in which you have demonstrated leadership and contributed to your school, community, or extracurricular organizations. How have these experiences shaped your personal growth or future goals?
- STEM Industry Interests: List the specific STEM fields or industries that interest you most (e.g., aerospace, biomedical, artificial intelligence, sustainability, renewable energy, cybersecurity, robotics, systems, process optimization, software development, etc.). Include a brief overall explanation of what draws you to your top two areas.

- Hold a minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 at the time of selection
- First-year students must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.3, if they do not have a college GPA at the time of selection
- First-year students:
- Must be first-time freshmen
- Must have completed a multi-week, residential, academic-focused bridge program the summer before matriculation.
- Major in an Engineering discipline or Computer Science (excludes Information Technology and Information Management)
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident
